Gmail voice and video chat

Maybe I'm late, or maybe I'm one of the people that just found out about this awesome feature!

I signed up for a Google Voice account today. Do I love it so far? Absolutely!

Not only am I able to call anywhere in the U.S. from my google account at NO charge, but I can also video chat. My favorite feature is the voicemail number. You pick your own number and calls are forwarded to 1 or more of the phones you add to the account and if you don't answer, it is sent to your free google voicemail. Voicemail messages from callers are typed out and sent to your g-mail address. What a great way to keep records of your messages!

Here are some things you can do to get started with Google Voice:
  1. Read transcriptions of voicemails. Watch a video »
  2. Customize which phones ring. Watch a video »
  3. Personalize greetings for different callers. Watch a video »
  4. Make cheap international calls. Watch a video »
  5. Forward SMS to email. Watch a video »
  6. Share voicemails with friends. Watch a video »
  7. Block unwanted callers. Watch a video »
  8. Screen callers before answering. Watch a video »
  9. Access the mobile app on your phone. Watch a video »
  10. Conference call with co-workers. Watch a video »
I used the service for a total of 4 times today and I look forward to wearing this service out!

The richer you are, the greater chance you’ll marry...

One of my new friends on LinkedIn shared this and I thought it was an interesting article from The Washington Post.  After you read it, let me know what you think...

The richer you are, the greater chance you’ll marry

 at 02:59 PM ET, 02/06/2012

The Brookings Institute’s Hamilton Project is out with a new study showing a strong correlation between income and marriage. While marriage rates have dropped as a whole over the last few decades, there’s been much a steeper decline in marriage among low-income Americans. Michael Greenstone and Adam Looney suggest that one reason for that drop is that labor-market changes that have altered marriage prospects for those trying to make ends meet, countering conservative claims that social norms and values are responsible for the trend.

Marriage rates among lower-income men and women have declined, but Greenstone and Looney offer different explanations for each gender. Among men, they say, those “that experienced the most adverse economic changes also experienced the largest declines in marriage” between 1970s and the present day.

By contrast, women have made big gains in the labor market over the past few decades. But their greater participation in the workforce--combined with a low-income male population, increasing prison rates for men, high unemployment and diminished earning power--has also kept more women from marrying. As s result, there’s a similar, if less dramatic, correlation between income and marriage among women:

That said, the authors worry about the downside for lower-income Americans of both sexes, particularly for those with families. Among single-parent households of both men and women, “the combination of declines in marriage and declines in economic opportunity have contributed to worse outcomes for some people, and especially for some children,” they write. In other words, poorer Americans are even worse off, in socioeconomic terms, if they stay single.

7 Secret Strategies for Entrepreneurial Success with Dush Ramachandran

7 Secret Strategies for Entrepreneurial Success with Dush Ramachandran Source

7 Secret Strategies for Entrepreneurial Success with Dush RamachandranDush Ramachandran, a successful business entrepreneur and former Vice President of Sales and Business Development at ClickBank, offered his tips on becoming an entrepreneurial success at Affiliate Summit West 2012 in Las Vegas.
In his session ‘Seven Secret Strategies for Entrepreneurial Success,’ he outlined his observations through experience to be the seven things that entrepreneurs are good at.
“The successful ones always seem to do these seven things,” said Ramachandran. “All of them are doing these seven things, often without knowing it.”
Here are Dush Ramachandran’s 7 Secret Strategies for Entrepreneurial Success:
  1. Align money with meaning
A successful entrepreneur must find a business that offers both financial worth and personal significance. “True success lies at the intersection of money and meaning,” said Ramachandran.
  2. Let go to grow – Delegate
“Entrepreneurs often fall prey to the belief that they can do anything,” he said. He suggests entrepreneurs hire the skills they don’t have and delegate tasks whenever possible.
  3. Ask for help
“What you don’t know can seriously hurt your business,” he says. He advises entrepreneurs to ask someone who knows instead of wasting valuable time trying to figure things out alone. He also recommends belonging to a mastermind group or talking about your business with competitors to solve problems. ”Everybody benefits,” he says. “You can get help and you can give help.”
  4. Have a Plan for Success
“It’s very worthwhile to have a plan,” he says. “However unrealistic you think it is, it is not.”
  5. Execute – Take massive action
“Just ideas alone aren’t enough,” says Ramachandran. “It’s important to take the first step and commit to action because nothing happens until you take decisive action.” He recommends to take action on one thing a day. “You’d be amazed how much can be accomplished.”
  6. Building predictable revenues
“One of the key things to success is building sustainable revenue,” says Ramanchandran.
Successful entrepreneurs all have recurring revenue streams. Dush says building recurring income is key to predicting revenue. “Try to get your business as predictable as possible.”
  7. Network Diligently“Networking is amazing for what it can do for you,” he says. Ramachandran referred to ClickBank marketer Jeff Siegel as one the best networkers he knows, who once said “I drank my way to a million dollars.”
Throughout Ramanchandran’s presentation he often noted on the importance passion plays in entrepreneurship.
“I often ask my clients ‘If work became an option, what would you do?’,” he said.
One audience member asked, “How do I know what my passion is?”
He said one of the best ways to find your passion is take a passion test, such as PassionTest.com.
One final note he left on was “Don’t be deterred by the fact that other people are doing it.”
Great advice Dush. Thanks!

Heartbeat Radio: Battle Of The Sexes

What started as a movement assuring women’s equal rights has turned into a cruel trick. Enticing promises of freedom from oppression were nothing but a tease targeting disillusioned bystanders. Millions of people have fallen prey with little or no idea as to what hit them. As in all things, time did tell.

Now, years later, Feminism has produced disturbing consequences. Detrimental role reversal has yielded a society of soft men and hard women. What’s to be done with a nation in an identity crisis?

Married Sex Is Better, Ancient Egypt, and Taxes...

No Wordless Wednesday today.  It was more like Wordy Wednesday to me.  I had a day full of lessons and gathering material for my Passion Parties Blog.  Love, love, love the last article I shared; written by Sasha Brown-Worsham, entitled, Seven Reasons Married Sex Is Better.  It was so good.  And soooo true!  :)

Right now I'm blogging from my daughters desktop computer.  She is completely hogging mine, with her Strawberry Shortcake movies on Netflix.  She told me today that she wishes that we could trade computers.  I know why...  Once you go Mac, you'll never go back.  Or want to at least....

I, myself, am very grateful for this PC right now, as it is allowing me the ability to blog while my computer is off limits.  And I have absolutely no problem with my daughter hogging it right now, because hard work goes rewarded and she worked very hard today and did an awesome job getting through her lessons.

I myself, as teacher mommy, enjoyed our history lesson.  We're learning about what life was like for the Ancient Egyptians that lived along the Nile River.  To further elaborate on the curriculum, we watched the following videos about egyptian life along the Nile river.

This one....

and this one....

and last, but not least, this one....

and can you believe that she sat through all of these videos and didn't want to be bothered.  I don't think that I'm the only one that likes history.  :)

And the most major thing I did today...  Filing our taxes!!  Yaaaaaay!!! It's that time again.  I'm going the do-it-yourself route, with the help or H&R Block of course!  I'm gonna finish filing them before  bed.  I'll give you guys my review of my experience once that's done.  :)

With all of that said... I just wanted to stop in and say hello!! Now, back to the graveyard shift....

Always wishing you success in Love and Life,

Monique Bradford  ~The WifeMommyPreneur
