The more you learn about blogging, the worse you become at doing it!

There comes a time in every bloggers life when you wonder whether or not you're doing it right.

Who am I writing to?

Is my writing too broad?  Do I need to narrow down my target market?

Should I consider my readers to be a market or are they just people?

Do I need two separate blogs?  One for personal pleasure and one strictly for business?

SEO??  Or should I say, (Search Engine Optimization) and  Am I doing it right?

Yes.  I'll admit it... In order to have a successful blog you do have to have some basic knowledge of what it takes to get the best results.

But...  As a matter of fact, (Capital) > BUT!

If you started out loving being a blogger and now you're completely lost from information overload and are afraid to blog for fear of doing it wrong, it's time to go back to the basics.

You'd be surprised how writing without an agenda will, in fact, give you better results and you'll
love blogging again!

Isn't that what it's all about anyhow?

Didn't you start out blogging simply because you wanted to share something with the world?

I know I did!

Don't get me wrong...

I went through the, "I'm not posting anything on my blog unless it's expert advice!" phase.

And guess what?

I guess I didn't have any expert advice to give, because I completely abandoned my blog for months at a time!

I lost my passion for blogging for a while, because I began blogging for profit instead of blogging for the love of blogging.

Big mistake!

Not only do you loose your loyal readers, because they can sense that something has changed in your writing or lack of, but you also loose a bit of your credibility, which is major in the blogging world.

Don't let all of the, "If you're going to do it, do it right or don't do it at all" messages out there stop you from doing what you love or have a desire to do.

Just do it!

The rest will fall into place.  You will be happier and your readers will love you for it!

Oops! Lost Content Due To Forwarding My Websites To My New Domain

Okay....  sigh~

I have been writing some killer content for the past month and it seems to be lost due to the fact that I kept changing the web address that I was forwarding my new domain name, "wifeymommypreneur.com".  Yes!  I finally got the dot com for WifeyMommyPreneur.  Yaaaay!

Anyhow, I would love for you to see all of the awesome content that I took my precious time to write and I will get it up on this blog as soon as I resolve this situation.

For now... I'm off to a very important meeting!

How To Make Blogging Work For You

Welp... The answer to this question is quite simple.

Focus on your blog.

Your blog is your home away from home.  It is your virtual home.  Make sure your blog is lived in!  In other words, blog every single day.

The more you blog, the more people will visit your blog.  The more people visit your blog, the more they follow your blog.  The more people follow your blog, the more people trust you enough to purchase your products and do business with you.

So many people start a blog and spend way too much time focusing on the wrong things.  They do everything but bring value to the market by consistently blogging.

Take it from me, posting links on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram will only do so much!  And that isn't much...  Everyone is doing that.  What makes you any different from the thousands of other people that are using this "marketing strategy"? 

Having a lot of likes and comments is one thing.  Building a list, building relationships, gaining trust and making sales is another.  I would assume you got into this business for the latter.  :)

With that being said, if you want to make money in this industry you have got to put in work.  You'd be surprised at how much your business with transform along with your bank account :) when you blog on a daily basis.

Content is King and Marketing is Queen.  Give the Queen something to work with.  :)

Back To Blogging Basics: How To Build A Blog Following

I have been driving myself crazy all week at attempting to create new blogs to market on.  I shared the pic above on all of my social media accounts to express my frustration!  Finally I came to one simple conclusion.  STICK WITH WHAT YOU'VE GOT!

Why would I try to create more work for myself when I already have a blog with a following.  Now, yes... I have not been as active in the blogging community as I used to be and therefore I haven't gotten as much activity and feedback from my readers.  But that's okay.  All I have to do is get back to it.

I really needed some inspiration today to get me over my social media/blogging hump, so I went to YOUTUBE!

I started watching videos from one of my blogging mentors, Alex Beadon.  I originally went to her to figure out how to get more likes on my Facebook Fan Pages, then I started watching all kinds of stuff.

She took me right back to the blogging basics with the video below.  Check it out!



Anyhow.  If you're feeling overwhelmed like me.  Hopefully this video helped to calm you as well.

Day 1: Feel Good Blogging Challenge!

   Alrighty!  I am taking the "Feel Good Blogging 7-Day Challenge", so over the next seven days I will be blogging!  Yaaaaay!

So let's get right into it.  I have 5 questions to answer and here's the first...

Who are you?

Or who am I?  Well, my name is Monique Bradford and I'm from Los Angeles, California.  I have the most wonderful husband and we've been married for over 11 years.  He is the CEO of TherezMore2C ENT.  And his work ethic is amazing!  He inspires me every single day.  We have a very talented, energetic, smart and beautiful 9 year old daughter named Lyrical that is home-schooled by yours truly.  My family is so important to me and I love to spend time with them so I schedule everything around my family.

I am always busy!  If I'm not cooking, I'm cleaning.  If I'm not giving Lyrical lessons, I'm working.  If I'm not working on my Avon Business, I'm taking Pizza orders from home for Pizza Hut (Fill out the form on the right if you want help doing the same thing). If I'm not working on my projects, I'm assisting my husband with his.  When I'm not doing any of these things I am in my bed taking a much needed nap!

I am at a point in my life where I am seeing that I need to start taking some kind of time for myself.  I need time to rejuvenate.  I am beginning to schedule things that make me feel good and relaxed so that I can give of myself to others.  I am 31 and my me time is becoming very important to me. (Just a side note :)

Why did I start blogging?

I have always enjoying writing.  All throughout my years in school I wrote poetry.  I also loved doing writing assignments.  Writing truly is freedom for me.  I feel like I can really express myself when writing.  It's just me and my pen and paper or in this case, me and my computer.

I really began to "blog" when myspace was popular and I gained a following.  I had people that would regularly read and comment on my poetry and thoughts and I fell in love with it.  It was only natural for me to start an actual blog.  

Who is my blog for?

That's a good question.  lol  I originally started my blog for me.  I just wanted to be free to express myself.  Being that I have an entrepreneurial spirit, (which I believe we all do, we've just been trained since birth to go out and get a job, but that's another story)  I decided to find a niche so that I could begin to monetize my blog.  The problem is I never really found a niche.  So then I became anti-niche.  I enjoy writing too much to just focus on one subject to write about.  My life is so rich with so many different things that I can't narrow it down.  I write about my life and I wear too many hats to focus on just one aspect of my life.

I do love to motivate people because I am such a motivated person and I truly believe that we all have a purpose and are gifted to do amazing things when we tap into that special place inside of us that brings it out.

I want my blog to be a place where people come to be entertained, motivated and inspired to live life without bounds.  I don't know everything there is to know about marriage, motherhood and entrepreneurship or life in general.  I have so much more to experience and learn, but what I do know and what I do learn I want to share with others.

What's something that I've been working on lately that I'm really proud of?

First off, I'm proud of myself for taking this Feel Good Blogging Challenge because I  feel like I'm finding my passion for writing again and actually having fun with my blog.

I'm also proud to be in a place in my life where I'm taking more time out for me.  I'm being much more honest with myself and others and just being and feeling much more genuine.  I'm getting rid of the ego and pride that would hold me back from really connecting with people.  I'm accepting and loving me for me rather than trying to be what I think other people want me to be.

What's the ONE MESSAGE that I hope people take away from my blog?

I want people to leave my blog feeling good about themselves.  I want them to leave knowing that they are not alone in whatever struggle they are in or whatever goal they are trying to achieve.  I want my readers to leave feeling loved, inspired and motivated to either continue or begin making positive changes in their lives.  I want them to know that they've got a friend in me.  WE ARE PEOPLE, WE ARE ONE!  :)

Just saying NO to "Niche Blogging"

I have officially decided to go against the grain and embrace "no niche" blogging.  Call me a rebel and I'll tell you that I am free from being boxed in and happily accept the title!  :)

I have way too many interests and talents to choose one thing.  And yes, I could make a blog for each one of my "interests", but I am a true blogger and a passionate person and I just can't stretch myself out that far.

Feeling like I was all alone in my rebellion against the "niche", I decided to google, "you don't need a niche" and I ran across this awesome blog post by Nicholas Scalice.  The title of his blog post was just what I googled, "You Don't Need A Niche".  I am so glad I'm not alone in the "No Niche" movement!

Nicholas shared some great information about some of our historical figures that were not confined to a niche.  Here's an excerpt from his blog post:

"While it is true that American culture is driven heavily on taking pride in work and even going so far as to define oneself by work, there seems to be something lacking if all we were meant to do with our lives was focus on just one major task. Maybe you love accounting or maybe you’re a great sculptor or maybe you can write like a champ, but does this mean that the only value you bring to the professional world is reliant upon your proficiency in this area?

Looking back in history, we can cite numerous examples of individuals with a multitude of interests. We call these people “polymaths” which simply means “a person whose expertise spans a significant number of different subject areas.” To name a few examples:

• Aristotle took interest in physics, metaphysics, poetry, theater, music, logic, rhetoric, politics, government, ethics, biology and zoology.

So I guess I am a "polymath" and loving it!  :)  I can't tell you how free I feel right now.

My question to bloggers especially those that consider themselves to be niche bloggers is, "Do you ever fell boxed in when deciding what to blog about?  And do you ever want to write about something that is totally different than your chosen niche?"

An Honest Review of "Blogging To The Bank"

By now I think most people in the world know about blogs.

What a lot of people Don't Know is, there is a great income to be made from blogging.

Rob Benwell is a 26 year old millionaire.  Not only is he a millionaire, but at 26, he has made several million dollars.  And guess how he made that money...  If you guessed by blogging, You're Right!

Early in 2006 Rob shared his blogging secrets with the world in his highly successful ebook, Blogging To The Bank.  As a result he has made making money online a whole lot easier for a whole lot of people.

Just a few years after the success of his first book, which has sold over 20,000 copies to date, Rob and his team have helped over 50,000 people make money blogging.  He is now relaunching his Blogging to the Bank as a full training program that includes a membership.

I got early access to the site and there's a vast amount of step-by-step video training to go along with the million dollar pdf blueprint.  The program covers quite a lot of new information and techniques to adapt your blog to the new demands of the major search engines.  Many of the techniques in the old book are now dated and don't work so well.  This is why the new Blogging To The Bank program is considered a godsend by many.

Also, this guy doesn't consider himself to be a 'guru'...  He's just a normal guy who wants to help other people out.  I find this a nice change as he and his team don't talk 'down' to you like most of the other so called gurus do. They explain everything in a nice simple manner so that anyone and everyone can understand.

Some of the topics, in my opinion, could have been covered a little more, while others were covered in great detail.  You also get monthly coaching sessions and new blueprints so you can keep your blogs up to-date and future proofed, which definitely gives you an advantage over other bloggers.

Final Verdict: if you are out there in the blogging world and want to make money, then I highly recommend Blogging To The Bank.

Reporter vs Expert - Why Most Bloggers Are Stuck Reporting

Reporters leverage the content of the experts and in most cases people start off as reporters because they haven't established expertise. Experts enjoy the perks of preeminence, higher conversion rates because of perceived value, it's easier to get publicity, people are more likely to seek you out rather than you having to seek others out, joint ventures come easier, etc. Experts in most cases simply make more money and attract more attention.

Most Bloggers Are Reporters

The thing with expertise is that it requires something - experience. No person becomes an expert without doing things and learning. Bloggers usually start out without expertise and as a result begin their blogging journey by talking about everything going on in their niche (reporting) and by interviewing and talking about other experts (reporting again).

There's nothing wrong with reporting of course and for many people it's a necessity at first until you build up some expertise. Unfortunately the ratios are pretty skewed when it comes to reporters and experts - there are a lot more reporters than there are experts, hence reporters tend to struggle to gain attention and when they do, they often just enhance the reputation of the expert they are reporting on.

Don't Replicate Your Teacher

If you have ever spent some time browsing products in the learn Internet marketing niche you will notice a pattern. Many people first study Internet marketing from a "guru" (for lack of a better term). The guru teaches how he or she is able to make money online, and very often the view that the student gleams is that in order to make money online you have to teach others how to make money online.

The end result of this process is a huge army of amateurs attempting to replicate what their teacher does in the same industry - the Internet marketing industry - not realizing that without expert status based on a proven record and all the perks that come with it, it's next to impossible to succeed.

Even people, who enjoy marginal success, say for example growing an email list of 1,000 people, then go out and launch a product about how to grow an email list of 1,000 people. Now I have no problems with that, I think it's fine to teach beginners and leverage whatever achievements you have, the problem is that people gravitate to the same niche - Internet marketing - and rarely have any key points of differentiation.

How many products out there do you know of that all claim to teach the same things - email marketing, SEO, pay per click, affiliate marketing, and all the sub-niches that fall under the category of Internet marketing. It's a saturated market, yet when you see your teachers and other gurus making money teaching others how to make money (and let's face it - making money as a subject is one of the most compelling) - your natural inclination is to follow in their footsteps.

If the key is to become an expert and you haven't spent the last 5-10 years making money online, I suggest you look for another niche to establish expertise in.

Report on Your Process, Not Others

The secret to progress from reporter to expert is not to focus on other experts and instead report on your own journey. When you are learning how to do something and implementing things day by day, or studying other people's work, you need to take your process and what you do as a result of what you learn, and use it as content for your blog.

It's okay to talk about experts when you learn something from them, but always relate it to what you are doing. If you learn a technique from an expert it's fine to state you learned it from them (and affiliate link to their product too!) but you should then take that technique, apply it to what you are doing and then report back YOUR results, not there's. Frame things using your opinion - your stories - and don't regurgitate what the expert said. The key is differentiation and personality, not replication.

Expertise comes from doing things most people don't do and then talking about it. If you do this often enough you wake up one day as an expert, possibly without even realizing how it happened, simply because you were so good at reporting what you did.

You Are Already An Expert

Most people fail to become experts (or perceived as experts) because they don't leverage what they already know. Every person who lives a life learns things as they go, takes action every day and knows something about something. The reason why they never become an expert is because they choose not to (which is fine for some, not everyone wants to be an expert), but if your goal is to blog your way to expertise and leave the world of reporting behind you have to start teaching and doing so by leveraging real experience.

Experience can come from what you do today and what you have done previously; you just need to take enough steps to demonstrate what you already know and what you are presently learning along your journey. I know so many people in my life, who are experts simply by virtue of the life they have lived, yet they are so insecure about what they know, they never commit their knowledge to words for fear of, well fear.

Blogs and the Web in general, are amazing resources when you leverage them as a communication tool to spread your expertise because of the sheer scope of people they can reach. If all you ever do is talk to people in person and share your experience using limited communication mediums, you haven't much hope of becoming an expert. Take what you know and show other people through blogging, and you might be surprised how people change their perception of you in time.

Reporting Is A Stepping Stone

If your previous experience and expertise is from an area you want to leave behind or you are starting from scratch, then reporting is the path you must walk, at least for the short term.

Reporting is a lot of fun. Interviewing experts, talking about what other people are doing and just being part of a community is not a bad way to blog. In many cases people make a career of reporting (journalism is about just that), but if you truly want success and exponential results, at some point you will have to stand up and proclaim yourself as someone unusually good at something and then proceed to demonstrate it over and over again.

Have patience and focus on what you do to learn and then translate that experience into lessons for others, and remember, it's okay to be a big fish in a small pond, that's all most experts really are.
