Kid Friendly Meal Idea: Salmon Croquettes

Salmon Croquettes

If you have a picky eater at home, one way to get them to try new things is to have them help you cook.  This is a learning experience for children.  They learn about what they're eating; the different types of meat, fruits and vegetables, grains, spices, how to measure, and most importantly how to whip up a good meal!

I decided to teach my daughter how to make Salmon Croquettes (My Way!)  It's great for kids because they get to get their hands dirty while making the salmon patties.

How we made our Salmon Croquettes

1 12oz. can Pink Salmon
2 medium eggs
1/2 cup of chopped onion
1/2 cup of crumbled saltine crackers
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon of pepper
1/2 teaspoon of paprika
3 tablespoons of FRESH squeezed lemon juice
2 tablespoons of Kikkomans Soy Sauce

After placing the can opener onto the can I let my daughter twist the can open.  This is good for children to test their strength and to help them further develop their motor skills.  Of course you have to supervise your child while opening the can, it can be dangerous and they can cut themselves!  Once the can is open, drain the water into a bowl.  Put the salmon into another bowl and remove the soft bones by carefully separating the the fish with a fork.  Once the bones are removed, you or your child can take a the fork and break up the salmon.  Now you can add all of the other ingredients.  You should have a nice thick mixture. (If it's not thick enough you can add some more crumbled saltine crackers.)  Now it's time to get dirty while making salmon patties out of your mixture.  Take a big tablespoon of the mixture and pat into patties with your hands.

I grill my patties, but you can also fry them up in a pan coated with oil and cook until both sides are golden brown.

Salmon Croquettes are good at breakfast, lunch or dinner.  We had ours with steamed white rice, corn with parsley flakes on top and a nice butter and garlic sauce to go over the rice and croquettes.

Remember when I said to drain the juice from the can into a bowl?  Here's what to do with it!

What you need:
The juice from the Canned Salmon
About 2 teaspoons of FRESH minced garlic
1/2 lemon sqeezed (Juice)
2 Large tablespoons of Butter
2 tablespoons of Kikkomans Soy Sauce
1/4 cup of water

Put the butter in a pan and add the garlic.  Cook the garlic until it's just about to turn brown, add the juice from the Salmon, lemon juice, soy sauce, and water.  Let simmer on med/low for 3-5 minutes.  Pour over steamed rice and salmon croquettes.

I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

Always wishing you success in Love and Life!

You already do Network Marketing!

Written by Contributing Author :
Source

(You just don’t get paid for it … yet).

Have you ever …
… told a friend about a movie you liked?
… advised someone on where to have dinner?
… recommended a good book?
… sent a web site link to a friend?

We all have. Every single one of us has recommended some sort of offer to friends of ours. We do it every single day.
At the office, you might say something like:
“Let’s have lunch at this great burger place today.”
“You have got to see this amazing movie!”
“Did you buy that new xBox game, yet? It ROCKS!”
“I’m reading this awesome book. You should check it out.”
Businesses refer to this as “word of mouth marketing” and they know that it can be one of the best ways to create “buzz” about their product or service.
They HOPE you will tell your network of friends and associates about your great experience and then recommend it so that your friends will buy, too.
And when you do refer those friends and those friends spend money, these same companies won’t even send you a thank-you card, much less a piece of the revenue generated by your referral.
You are participating in “word of mouth marketing” by sharing your opinions and recommendations with your “network” of friends and associates.
Like it or not: You are involved in Network Marketing … for free!
I am a semi-pro musician, meaning I make a little money playing music part-time.
A couple years ago, I pulled in to a Starbucks with a band I was playing with.
As we stepped up to order coffee, the keyboard player whipped out a black card and handed it to the barista with his credit card. When the barista charged him for the order, he said, “… and with your discount, your total comes to …. ”
“Whoa!”, I exclaimed. “Share. What’s with the black card and the discount?”
(Because we all know that Starbucks coffee is EXPENSIVE!)
He turned to me and quickly explained that for $25 a year, I can get discounts on all my orders, a free coffee on my birthday, and some other nice stuff that I can’t remember.
I quickly bought a black card. I loved Starbucks and I knew that the savings were going to quickly cover that $25. It just made sense to me.
How much money did the keyboard player receive when I bought the card?
Not a single penny. The guy behind the counter didn’t even thank him for referring me! He could have at least said “Thanks for the new business!”
My buddy just used “network marketing” to recommend me. And got NOTHING.
Since that time, I’ve found a coffee company that offers a product I personally enjoy more than Starbucks AND it offers some health benefits. They also like to take advantage of word of mouth marketing and I make a point of recommending this particular coffee product to my network of friends.
Most of the time, they like the coffee.
(Many like it better than the brand they’ve been drinking for years).
Then they find out that the coffee may actually have some health benefits.
And when they find out that they can actually SAVE money by buying this coffee…
They usually buy the coffee.
Guess what the company does …
They send me a commission check every time somebody I refer buys the coffee.
I guess that makes me a semi-pro network marketer, too!
We all make recommendations to our network of friends and associates every day.
We’re all doing some kind of network marketing. It’s a fact of life.
Some of us are getting paid to do it.
Since you’re going to be making recommendations anyway, doesn’t it make sense to align yourself with a company that offers something you can personally believe in, refer a few friends, and make money in the process?
Before You Jump In: Do your research. Not all network marketing companies are the same. Like any other business, there are good and bad companies. The range of products and services is immense and covers everything from telecommunications to nutritional products, coffee, to internet access, and everything in between.
Find a company you can believe in with a product or service that you can truly get personally excited about. Share that product or service just like you do when you recommend a movie, a book, a game, a concert, a restaurant. Let people decide if they want to take your recommendation. And when they do, get a check!
Always wishing you success in love and life!

Bible Study - Monday, October 17, 2011

I have been working since last night on branding WifeyMommyPreneur.  I have totally changed the website, yet again as you can see and I'm still building pages that focus in on what WifeyMommyPreneur stands for.  My mind needed to rest so I decided to pick up my bible and read.

Here's what I read tonight:

"Not Philosophy but Christ"
Colossians 2

   1For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh;
   2That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;
   3In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
   4And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words.
   5For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ.
   6As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:
   7Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
   8Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
   9For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
   10And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

"Not Legalism but Christ"
   11In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
   12Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
   13And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
   14Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
   15And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
   16Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
   17Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
   18Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,
   19And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God.
   20Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,
   21(Touch not; taste not; handle not;
   22Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men?
   23Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body: not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.

Colossians 3

"Not Calamity but Christ"

   1If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
   2Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
   3For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
   4When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
   5Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
   6For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:
   7In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.
   8But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
   9Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;
   10And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:
   11Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.
   12Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
   13Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
   14And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.
   15And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
   16Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
   17And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

"The Christian Home"
   18Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.
   19Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.
   20Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.
   21Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.
   22Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God;
   23And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
   24Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.
   25But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.

The Clean Up Woman

Source
Are you making it easy for your man to be snatched up by the cleanup woman?

Who is the cleanup woman you say?  Well according to one of my favorite old-school singers, "The cleanup woman is a woman who get's all the love you girls leave behind." ~Betty Wright

Are you rejecting you husband when he wants to get busy?  When your man tells you he's hungry, do you tell him to fend for himself (most of or ALL of the time)?  Are you walking around like your stuff doesn't stink and he'd better be lucky he has you?  Are you too busy to hang out with him, listen to him, talk to him or even touch him?  Well guess what?... Your man is OPEN GAME to the cleanup woman!

Just like us women, men have needs too.  Sure, we are all queens of our castles and every queen has a KING.  Treat him as such.  There are plenty of women that would love to get a hold of your man and have no problem meeting his needs, whether they be physical, mental or emotional.  And they are even willing to meet his needs while he is still with you.  And these women are the cleanup women!

And don't let your man be successful!  This makes him a target for most cleanup women looking to lick the wounds of a neglected man.  But whether a millionaire or your average Joe, there is always another woman on the sideline who is more than willing to do what you won't!

Listen to the lyrics of this song, take notes and if you care about your man and your marriage, make sure the only one doing the cleaning up is you!  This is a video of Betty Wright performing "Clean Up Woman" Live.  Love it!

Women In Business: STAY Hungry!

Well, it's Wednesday.  The weather is cool and I'm in the mood to cuddle :)  I had the most productive day yesterday.  I was on the phone all day with clients and prospects.  It was a the kind of day that any entrepreneur could appreciate!  Work.  We love to work.  Work is good, especially when you're working for yourself... Bring on the work!

I got a text this morning saying that the Passion Party I was supposed to be having this Saturday was cancelled.  There was a time when I would be bummed about this sort of thing.  But It's okay.  Sometimes that's just the way the cookie crumbles.  I shall not be discouraged!  I've been networking like crazy lately and I'm bound to bear some fruit for it!

I want to leave you all with this empowerment tip for women in business, shared by my friends Women's Empowerment Zone on Facebook.

EMPOWERMENT TIP FOR WOMEN IN BUSINESS: The longer you retain a client or customer, be sure to appreciate them more instead of valuing them less. Demonstrate the same enthusiasm and desire to please that you showed when you were initially trying to gain them as a new client. Stay “hungry” in your business and always demonstrate value for your repeat clients and customers.

It's easy to be so focused on building our businesses that we don't take the time to appreciate those customers that are loyal to us.  While we're investing in office supplies, marketing materials and products, it wouldn't hurt to spend a little money on some thank you cards, birthday cards, ect. for your clients, prospects, the people who support you and your business and your business associates.  Remember that the most powerful form of marketing is word-of-mouth.  Keep your clients happy and they are sure to send business your way!

Always wishing you success in Love and Life,

Monday Inspiration: You are here for a purpose!

I'm up early this Monday Mornin' and I'm ready for another productive week!  This weeks Monday Inspiration is a quote...

"I am here for a purpose and that purpose is to grow into a mountain, not to shrink to a grain of sand.  Henceforth will I apply ALL of my efforts to become the highest mountain of all and I will strain my potential until it cries for mercy." ~Og Mandino

Many times we like to downplay who we really are.  When really, we are all rock stars in our own right.  We each have a purpose and it's not for us to dumb it down.  Find what your purpose is and flaunt it!

With that said, have a wonderful week and remember that your future is in YOUR hands!  Make yourself a good day, I know I will.  Xoxo

"When you follow your bliss... doors will open where you would not have thought there would be doors; and where there wouldn't be be a door for anyone else."
~Joseph Campbell
